General Finishes Gel Stain is a viscous oil based stain gel that is ideal for refinishing previously stained wood, and for woods like pine that can look blotchy with traditional wipe on stain.
Gel Stain is also a good option for fiberglass, and more dense woods like maple, birch, and oak.
This product is oil based, but is VOC compliant everywhere in quart size. It cannot be shipped in the air and must be shipped via a ground service.
Recommended topcoats are the oil based gel urethane, or the water based high performance.
Orders are shipped the same day Monday through Friday when ordered before 1:00PM EST.
Depending on order volume, custom colors may not ship when ordered before 1PM. Current order cutoff time for custom colors is 11AM EST. Custom color order cut off time is updated daily and can be found in the announcement at the top of every page.
Some orders will ship the same day after 1:00PM EST but there is a firm cutoff time of 5:30PM. Accurate estimated delivery dates are shown at checkout for most products.

The following products are ground only: TWP deck stain, Arborcoat oil based stain, Simiron epoxy, most 5 gallon pails, tabletop epoxy, dry erase paints, airless paint sprayers, Benjamin Moore deck cleaning products, and all oil based gel/wiping stains, topcoats, and paints.
All items are packed thoroughly to avoid damage. We have not had a damaged gallon in all of 2023.
